Acne is simply a part of your life when you are in your teen years. In spite of how embarrassing having a face full of zits can be, there is some comfort in knowing that everyone else in school is dealing with acne as well. When we grow up we try to convince ourselves that our years of breakouts are over. This is why so many of us are so embarrassed by the occasional breakout or zit. Finding a few zits or pimples in the morning can be enough to send a fully grown adult into a childhood regression. What makes adult breakouts worse is how painful they can be. It does not matter what your age is, the tips in this article should help you out.

Get a Good Cleanser
The first thing you need to do is find a good cleanser. A good cleanser will obviously be oil free, but that is not the only criteria you should use when shopping for your cleanser. You should also look at the salicylic acid. This ingredient is especially important if your breakouts are bad and you need a harsher cleanser than the average person. In a “regular” cleanser though, the strength of the salicylic acid is just enough to zap the bacteria and clean out your pores. Unfortunately, as you get older, your skin will become more sensitive and using salicylic acid cleansers regularly will be bad so you should save them for spot treatments later on.
Stop Touching Your Face
Try not to touch your face. Most of us don’t realize just how often we touch our faces during the day. Touching our faces is one of the reasons that pimples keep coming back. Give yourself a minute to contemplate this. If you touch something and then touch your face, in essence, you are touching your face with that something. When rest your face in your hands, the oil from your hands is transferred to your face and clogs the pores. Your face is a prime entry location for germs which is why touching your face is one of the ways that the flu is transmitted from others to you: you touch something that has been touched by a sick person and then touch your face: viola! you have the flu! This is just one reason why touching your face with your hands is a bad idea.
If you find that you can’t help but touch your face, make sure that your hands are always clean! This means that you should wash your hands often.
Never Pick at Pimples
Do not, under any circumstances, pick at pimples or zits when they occur! Acne should not ever be subject to picking or squeezing. It is always better to leave a breakout alone. Though should never ever play with, pick at or pop your pimples, it is okay to gently wash your breakout with some acne fighting cleansers. It is true that acne can take a few days to heal properly. What would your rather have happen? A pimple on your face for a couple of days or a pimple scar for the rest of your life?
You have lots of acne treatments to choose from. One person might need a stronger cleanser while another does fine with natural options. You might even be one of the lucky few who can cure acne breakouts with a change in diet and exercise. You might not find the perfect acne remedy right away so don’t be afraid to try different things. Eventually, you will learn what works for you and what won’t. Just keep at it and soon you will be able to enjoy having clean skin!
